I found this recipe on Pinterest and it was incredibly easy. I actually had the ingredients at home and I’m sure a lot of other people would as well. The most difficult part was holding the ‘pulse’ button on the food processor. Seriously, it was that easy! I took photos every minute of processing to show the transformation! Once it was finished, I cut up an apple and tried some. I pulled out the container of Jif from the lazy susan to compare the taste. I actually don’t think I’ll ever eat industrially processed peanut butter ever again. The taste didn’t even compare; I loved the way my homemade peanut butter wasn’t as smooth as the Jif, it gave it a crunch and even more of a peanut taste.
I noticed the colors were completely different, as well. I think it really touches the overarching theme of connecting yourself with the foods that you eat. I felt immediately disconnected from the Jif peanut butter and the factory where it was produced. It amazes me how food companies add ingredients for consumers to prefer the taste of their products, but when you take a step back and make the same product or eat something locally, it tastes immeasurably better. I took a cup of lightly salted peanuts and added them into the food processor. I turned on the processor and took a photo of the progress every minute. It's amazing to see how the nuts turn into the soft, buttery mixture. I chose not to add any more salt, and felt that sugar was unnecessary, however, I did add a small drop {when I say drop, I mean, quite literally, a drop} of honey.
